In the midst of a post-deadline mix-up that saw the Toronto Maple Leafs trade away three role players in an attempt to build for the future there seems to be a conflict of interest between the suits in the suites and boys behind the bench. Continue reading here…

If you woke up this morning thinking that it might be a quiet one, you aren’t the only hockey fan who’s nighttime sediment is complete shock. For Episode 17 of the Sin Bin Show hockey podcast we started things with an international edge. In our first story Peter Forsberg finally gave the NHL an answer as to whether he would be returning. Moving along we looked at the huge contract extension that New York Rangers gave to their main man between the pipes, Henrik Lundqvist. Philadelphia made a return to the Team of the Week. This time it was a more negative appearance as we struggled to look for the good things going on for this team right now. As always we wrapped the show up with the Three Stars of the Week.

Men who care this passionately about their reputation and legacy are few and far between in North America, so perhaps Peter Forsberg owes these qualities to his modest Swedish upbringing. In any case, todays news from his Nordic stomping ground will surprise you. Continue reading here…

Unfortunately we had to start episode 16 of the Sin Bin hockey podcast by talking about the worst tragedy the NHL has seen in years. This of course was the skate that Richard Zednik took to the carotid artery. After that we moved on to less dreadful news, as we looked at the four player trade between the Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes. For the Team of the Week we looked at the Dallas Stars who are quietly making there way to the top of the NHL. As always we finished off the show with the Three Stars of the Week.

Talk about a polarizing subject in sports and fighting in hockey emerges like a sneaky right cross from George Parros. The volume of opinions on the matter diminish the vastness of the Milky Way while overemphasizing what amounts to a single snap, or pitch in football and baseball respectively. Does punching a man in the groin, or throwing at someones’ head not glaringly eclipse the inherent danger in a good on-ice tussle? Continue reading here.

Check out how the Peter Forseberg sweepstakes changes the NHL landscape and the best piece I’ve done yet: Ray Emery is the TO of the NHL. (Note: initial portion deals with NBA, feel free to skip that for non-fans)
